Amphib 2006

The worlds biggest event for Amphibious Vehicles for sure is the "Amphib". This years Amphib took place at Lago Maggiore/Italy. And it may have been the finest Amphib I have ever joined! 54 vehicles had subscribed, but I canīt really say how many finally showed up. They were impossible to count, because you couldnīt see all at the same time and place. Some have just step in for a visit like the fire brigade or prefered to leave out one of the daily trips across the lake. Nor have all camped at Solcio Campsite but stayed somewhere near by in a hotel. Anyway, the campsite was overcrowded with tents and campers as well as cars and trucks, last both all dual purpose.
Officially Amphib was from 30th June to 7th July, but many stayed much longer for holidays.

Amphib 2006 had the great advantage to take place at one of the most beautiful lakes in Europe and almost comes along with a sun garantee. But really to make it such a fantastic event, it needed a huge organisation work.
First of all to name is Alberto (in blue shirt). He was the main organisator. Really wonder how he managed to be everywhere more or less at the same time, always with a friendly smile in his face and solving upcoming problems within seconds.

Many thanks to both fire brigades for joining us and winching out some of us (me included) stuck at soft beaches with their vehicles. Also many thanks to the Police / Carabinieri for easy going on the roads and the town councils of all the places we approached for their refreshing drinks & snacks. But a huge thank you to the people of Lago Maggiore area for their very, very warm welcome!

Right: Sorry I forgot this guarding angels name. But he really had an eye on us from the sky all the time.

Thank you all very, very much for the great time we had!
