Amphicar Rear seatbelt Installation
This first picture shows George strapped in to the rear seat, I've fitted the belts so the buckle part is on the outside.
OK, now I've removed the rear seat base. A few things here, I've got rid of the useless fibreboard thing and made a proper base of marine ply. The removable engine cover is airtight but still allows good access. In front are 2 lockable boxes for tools/camera etc. This fills the gap between the water transmission and bulkhead. As well as a good place to carry heavy tools it reduces noise even further and is secure for valuables. You see the seatbelt buckles on the outside, this allows the centre straps to be long so they hook over the seat and don't fall into the oily bits !
Note also it's a different seat colour, that's because this picture was taken before I installed the new interior that you can see in the first picture.

OK. Now I've removed the back part so you can see the seatbelt attach points. On the outside they are 8mm High strength steel threaded rods that bolt through the vertical bulkhead. (They are need to be bent slightly in, the better position would be to drill through the hull ! - best not !) The device on the right of the photo is the second bilge pump. In the middle you can see a box section bracket, this is bolted onto the 25mm square bar that goes between the wheels (a major pain to drill - had to hire a special right angle type to clear transmission).

This is another picture of the install. You can see the bolts are arranged so the belts come out of the natural gap between cushion and base (and can be hidden underneath) but still keep the area airtight and don't limit the use of the hatch.
